The Balkan Region is an often forgotten European destination. But the area is brimming with rich culture, unique activities, lush forests, and warm people. And did I mention gourmet food? This trip has everything: walking tours, museum visits, outdoor adventure, historic sites, war scars, food tastings, island hopping, and so much more. Uncover the Croatian &Bosnian gems that are still largely unknown, but will soon be the talk of the town.
Arrive at Zagreb International Airport (ZAG) in the morning or early afternoon. A driver will pick you up and take you into the city to your hotel. You’ll stay at a homey hotel well located in Lower Town. Your trip will begin with a walking tour of Old Town. Jumping into a walking tour soon after your arrival will help you to get your bearings in the city quickly. Zagreb is chocked full of things to do, but the most important first step is to learn about the culture you’ve just come into.
After the walking tour, it will be later in the afternoon. You will have this free time to explore the town more on your own and enjoy dinner.
Dinner recommendations will be provided.

Zagreb has over 30 museums! Throughout day 2, you will alternate between visiting the museums that interest you most and eating/snacking your way through the city. Start with an early breakfast at one of the breakfast options that will be provided. Then you’ll visit your first museum: either the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, the Archaeology Museum, or the Croatian Association of Fine Artists. After your first museum, have an early lunch at one of Zagreb’s most popular restaurants, Heritage. Every item they use in their food is sourced from Croatia.
Visit your second museum of the day after you’ve filled up. Pick between the Zagreb City Museum or the Croatian Museum of Naive Art.
After dinner, make your way to the Museum of Broken Relationships. It is one of the most interesting and unique museums you will find. Wash down the heartbreak of others in their in-house bar.
End the night with a stroll along Strossmayer Promenade, which is lit by oil lamps that are individually lit every night.
What's included:
Day 3 will be spent outside in the fresh air. You’ll start by heading over to Park Maksimir, where you can most around for as long as you’d like. See statues, obelisks, and secret bunkers used in wartimes. Grab lunch nearby the park (or pack a picnic), then you’ll spend some time walking around the very picturesque Mirogoj Cemetery. The Mirogoj Cemetery is a fascinating place to visit due to its extensive array of arcades, tombstones, statues, and mausoleums. It’s an extremely peaceful place with incredible architecture. If you are visiting in early November, you can also participate in commemorating the dead on All Souls Day.
If you’re in the walking mood, you can walk all the back to Old Town. If not, take the tram and head to the city center. For the rest of the evening, enjoy Zagreb’s city life.
